You pretty much can't call yourself a hardcore gamer without using Valve's Steam, but if you have an iPad, using the mobile app has been been an exercise in frustration without native support -- until now.
Valve has updated its free Steam Mobile for iOS app to version 1.2 on Tuesday evening, and the big news for gaming fans is that the app is finally iPad native -- well, sort of.
Judging from early reviews of the update, the native iPad support is little more than the developer stretching out the iPhone/iPod screen. "It's like they didn't even try," noted customer Ghostdog 25, who was clearly hoping for a more iPad-friendly UI with the update.
In addition to native iPad support, Steam Mobile 1.2 brings fixes for VoiceOver and the ability to go offline from chat mode without actually logging out of the service.
No one knows why it's taken Valve so long to bring Steam Mobile into an iPad-optimized world, but if you've been waiting and hoping for this day to arrive, you'll want to hit the App Store and get your 2.8MB download on right away.
