If users are indeed starting to abandon social networks like Facebook, where are they going? Some are heading to more private turf like Path, which added the ability to send and receive private messages this week.
Path announced the release of version 3.0 for iOS and Android on Wednesday night, bulking up on optional paid content and giving users the ability to communicate directly (and privately) with each other.
Path 3's new one-to-one and group messaging is intended for "smaller, more personal conversations" and can even include voice messages for those times when it's easier to say it than type it. Private messages can also include text, location, songs, books, movies, photos, videos and stickers as well.
What's this about stickers? Path 3 introduces The Shop, a completely optional area of the app dedicated to in-app purchases. Here you can buy stickers, which are pieces of art that can be using in messaging (think even swankier emoji); the latest update includes two free sticker packs to encourage buying more.
In addition to stickers, Path 3's Shop includes a handful of photo filters that can also be purchased from the same place.
Available in 19 languages, Path 3 is now available on the App Store and the latest Android version has also landed on Google Play as well.
