The calendar may say it's March, but we've got one last handful of stories from February for you to enjoy. Between dubious reports of iPad cannibalization, app updates and the retired U.K. trial judge who slapped Apple on the wrist going to work for Samsung, Thursday sure was a day chock full of tech excitement, so let's flash back a few hours and enjoy it all over again...
The big buzz on Thursday centered around a Foss Patents report putting the spotlight on Sir Robin Jacob, the retired U.K. judge who forced Apple to post a public apology to Samsung last year as part of the company's patent appeal. It seems that the judge has hung up his robe for good and is now "working on behalf" of Samsung Electronics as one of nine legal experts the Korean manufacturer has assembled to fend off an Ericsson complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). While Sir Robin's new job certainly raised some eyebrows, it appears to be all above board where U.K. law is concerned, but it certainly paints the ex-judge who cited Apple's "lack of integrity" in a new light.

Is it possible that Evernote for iOS can get even better? The company certainly thinks so, releasing a new version 5.2 update on Thursday which continues to add new functionality to the core app. For iPad users, the update introduces Snippets, a new note list mode that makes it easy to quickly scan notes and jump to any month with a handy date scrubber. The update also uses a new embedded PDF viewer with multi-page and landscape views, search and rotation lock. Evernote 5.2 also includes new formatting options, including the option to have no formatting at all, as well as offline notebook support and Library view for the iPad for Business Premium customers.
MacRumors is reporting that the iPad mini appears to be cannibalizing full-size iPad sales as well as those from competitors, judging from new data published by NPD DisplaySearch. There's just one problem with that report: Apple has never announced its iPad sales in advance, not has the company been caught off guard or surprised by demand for the iPad mini. As noted by Matthew Panzarino's Robot Tuxedo blog (via hat tip to The Loop), DisplaySearch is using estimated numbers to arrive at its dubious conclusion, making the report little more than a guess in the first place.
There are app updates and there are app updates, but coffee and donut lovers across the nation will be jumping for joy to find the official Dunkin' Donuts app has hit version 2.5. As first noted by 9to5Mac, the update now supports the taller display on the iPhone 5 (yes, developers are still getting around to that!), but also adds Passbook integration to help call up your Dunkin' Card on those groggy mornings before your first cup of coffee.
