Although Apple continues to tout the number of iPad native apps available, there are always one or two that never seem to come. This week, you can scratch another of those off the list, because Audible is finally here for iPad.
Amazon-owned Audible, Inc. released an update to their audiobook app for iOS on Tuesday night, and version 2.0 is a pretty significant one for iPad owners. In addition to an all-new look and feel, the app is now a universal build, bringing native iPad support for the first time.
With more than 100,000 audiobook titles available including all of the hottest new releases, Audible has become the go-to service for those who want to enjoy books without having to actually read them.
Version 2.0 of the Audible app introduces a new look and feel with improved navigation and a simplified start-up -- users can now sign in with their Amazon accounts, so there's one less login to remember.
A new library filter neatly tucks completed titles out of view, and Audible now allows users to download up to three hours of audiobook audio over 3G/4G cellular connections.
Audiobooks from Audible 2.0 is now available as a free download from the App Store and is compatible with all devices running iOS 5.0 or later, including native support for the iPad and the iPhone 5.
