If you were feeling sad that Apple offered no option for buying a swanky new 21.5-inch iMac with a Fusion Drive, it's time to turn that frown upside down -- and then click your way to the company's online store to order one.
Cult of Mac noted on Monday that Apple has quietly started to offer its new Fusion Drive as a build-to-order option on the 21.5-inch iMac. As you may recall, the hybrid hard drive and solid-state storage option was exclusive to the new 27-inch iMac when it debuted in November.
But there's a price to pay for being on the bleeding edge of technology, and it's not just from your wallet -- 21.5-inch iMacs currently take seven to 10 business days to ship with or without the Fusion Drive option enabled, but that's still better than three to four weeks for the 27-inch model.
The Fusion Drive, which adds 128GB of SDD storage to a traditional 1TB hard drive, will also add $250 to your purchase price, making an entry-level 21.5-inch iMac at $1299 a more heart-wrenching $1549 instead.
Here's hoping those of you who ordered at 21.5-inch iMac over the last two months won't be too upset with Apple's change of heart…
