Drobos are a great way to safely store your data, but once you leave your home or office, there's no way to access those files remotely -- that is, until the company teams with Barracuda Networks.
Drobo and Barracuda Networks have announced a joint venture to bring cloud accessibility and storage to the latest local network-attached Drobo 5N, offering the best of both worlds for data storage.
Under the partnership, Drobo 5N owners will be able to use Barracuda's Copy service, which allows users to access shared files from any location or device. The integration means that anything users store on their Drobo and share via Copy can be accessed at all times with no size limitations, including 1080p videos and full-resolution images.
Regardless of how you need to access shared files, Barracuda has you covered with client support for iOS and Android as well as Mac, Windows and Linux, with Windows Phone support coming soon.
But remote file access is only part of the equation -- Copy also allows Drobo 5N owners unlimited online backup, with 5GB provided free of charge and additional storage capacity available directly from Barracuda.
Available in March, the best news for Drobo 5N owners is that the Barracuda Copy integration with optional 5GB of cloud storage comes at no extra cost beyond the $599 for the hardware -- users only need to register with Barracuda to get started.
