Google may keep its products in a beta state for what feels like forever, but "infinite" cloud storage service Bitcasa has to run a close second -- until this week, when the company finally launches its product aimed at killing the hard drive.
Bitcasa announced Tuesday that its "Infinite Drive" technology is finally available for all, complete with client applications for iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, Windows RT and web.
The concept is simple: Bitcasa acts as a "magic" external hard drive that never crashes or runs out of space. Need to free up space on your computer's hard drive? Simply move files onto Bitcasa's Infinite Drive and it instantly becomes available across all of the devices you use, with client-side encryption.
The service got a lot of well-deserved hype by offering "infinite" cloud storage for free while in beta. While that deal may be gone, the company is still offering a generous 10GB of storage or backup for free, as well as infinite storage for only $99 per year or $10 per month.
To celebrate the launch, Bitcasa is offering a 30 percent discount on its annual cost, with special pricing of only $69 per year -- but act fast, because the company isn't saying when the deal might end.
