Rumors began swirling last month that Apple may soon expand its product distribution to Staples retail stores across the U.S., and the deal appears to be done, based on tweets from the office supplier's executives.
MacRumors is reporting that a deal between Staples and Apple for U.S. distribution of the Mac maker's products appears to be a lock. While Staples stores have long sold Apple products internationally, this will mark the first time the two companies have secured a deal for the United States.
"After Canada, #Apple products are coming to #Staples in US. Great news!" a now-deleted tweet from Staples Senior Vice President of Global Human Resources said on Thursday night.
That executive wasn't alone in gushing over the deal: Staples' Strategic Accounts coordinator Erin LaFlamme and Field Services Manager Mike Goggin also tweeted their enthusiasm in posts which remain public at this writing.
Early reports last month suggested that Staples might only sell accessories as well as the Apple TV, but later rumors seem to indicate that the deal will include Mac computers as well as iPhone and iPad as part of the deal.
