Taking the sting out of chores is nothing new. In fact, there are a number of avenues ranging from activity books for children to the ever-entertaining Chore Wars. However, it's rare in Free App Friday that we get the chance to share an app that's as useful for parents as it is for the twenty-something looking for pizza money in the couch.
The concept of Chorma is simple — do chores and earn points. Each task is placed into the main to-do list, and can be claimed by each member of the household. You can also set tasks to recur or you can schedule them in advance. When a task is claimed, the onus is then on the individual to go through and scrub the grout and earn their sweet sweet points. These points only hold an imaginary value that a household sets, but do provide a tangible framework to set rewards.
Where Chorma shines is in its use of push notifications. Simply being notified that your roommate picked up the toilet paper skips a headache; knowing your roommate already fed the cat skips a heart attack.
